Sylvia is from Hong Kong and is currently an undergraduate at
the University of Southampton. She didn't dance seriously until she came
to university and enjoyed learning a variety of styles including ballet,
latin, ballroom, jazz and hip- hop, though her attempts to breakdance were
an abject failure. Given the limited arts scene in Hong Kong, discovering
the Royal Ballet was like finding water in the desert and she's been
passionate about ballet ever since.
Sylvia trained as a pianist for 12 years. She is also an
aspiring writer (aren't we all?) and count Elizabeth Wurtzel and Roald
Dahl as her influences and inspirations. Her love for dance is rivaled
only by her love for figure skating and she'll grudgingly admit that she's
a certifiable net-head who uses the internet to indulge in both.
