Francis Timlin holds a Bachelor of
Music degree from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Music
degree from the University of Utah, and a Doctor of Musical Arts
degree from the University of Washington.
As a flutist, Francis has performed
as a member of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, and currently
performs as a free-lance chamber and orchestral player. While
at the University of Utah, he studied Ballet History with noted
historian and critic P. W. Manchester, audited choreography with
Mattlyn Gavers, and became an avid and devoted follower of Ballet
West. A resident of Seattle since 1978, he has followed the development
of Pacific Northwest Ballet closely.
Francis has served as President of
the Board of Directors of the Seattle Group Theatre, the Chehalis
Ballet Center, the Seattle Woodwind Quintet, and is the long-time
Treasurer of the Seattle Flute Society. When not performing or
attending performances of dance, music and theatre, he pursues
his 22 year career as an academic administrator at the University
of Washington School of Law.
