I saw the Falco company many years ago (like 20) in NYC-very sensous and luscious repertory. And incredibly beautiful dancers.I believe that somewhere in there Falco moved his company, or at least himself, to Italy on a semi-permanent basis. For a while, the company, when based in NYC was heavily funded by Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis, I believe. But I think he didn't get the state funding and critical acclaim necessary for permanent residency in NYC. I'm remembering all this very faintly; if anyone has different info, by all means correct me!

trina -- Thank you for your kind words (two decades later!) about The Louis Falco Dance Company. Excuse me for not responding promptly to your inquiry about Louis Falco. The repertory has been keeping me very busy; in fact, I am currently in New York staging Falco's "Caravan" for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater -- the company for which Louis originally created the ballet in 1976.

You are correct about Louis' Italian connections. From 1980 to 1983, The Louis Falco Dance Company toured extensively throughout Italy and was featured on RAI-TV. Louis also created works for La Scala Opera Ballet and MaggioDanza. I must say, those were the days -- Spoleto Festivals, Roma by night!, fashion shoots, costumes by Armani...

As for the Jackie O' connection and the matters of state funding and critical acclaim in NYC...you'll have to wait for the Falco biography on which I am currently working.
Cheers!

Alan...thanks so much for your reply, albeit delayed!! (smile!) We eagerly await your biography!!!! And how wonderful that you re-staged "Caravan". I recently saw the Ailey company here in Seattle, and thought they looked just fantastic!! Do keep us posted on the legacy of Falco, re-stagings/revivals, and your upcoming book.
