Just a reminder that the first of the webcasts is tonight. You will need Flash4 to view it, which you can download from the Random site.

It's from 8pm Uk time, 12pm PST, unfortunately it's in the middle of the night in Australia.

I shall be seeing it live.

Nadine Meisner is much impressed with Random's offerring:

quote:
Random Dance Company's The Trilogy Installation is a spectacular event that overturns my belief formulated only days ago with Merce Cunningham's Biped at the Barbican that digital technology has little to contribute to dance beyond dubious decoration. Comparisons might be invidious and, when involving Cunningham, sacrilegious, but for me, the effects of The Trilogy Installation are more ambitious, integrated and sophisticated than Biped's.

A review from NYC:

A Trilogy Carefully Plotted

Jack Anderson, NY Times

Nothing whatsoever seemed random about "The Trilogy," which Wayne McGregor's London-based Random Dance Company presented on Thursday night as part of the Global Exchange/UKwithNY series, presented by the church's Danspace Project.

From the Chicago Sun Times:

Random Dance Theater

November 3, 2001

quote:
With the arrival Thursday night of London's Random Dance Company, the Dance Center of Columbia College has kicked off its season of visits by international contemporary dance troupes, including appearances by artists from Canada, China, Indonesia, France and Africa.

A resident company of the fabled Sadler's Wells Theatre since this past summer, Random Dance is presenting a 70-minute work, "The Trilogy," consisting of sections from three dances inspired by the elements: "The Millennarium" (with a water theme, created in 1997), "Sulphur 16" (fire, from 1998) and "Aeon" (earth and air, from 2000).
