'Mix'

Susan Corrigan meets Deborah Colker as her dance company return to London with
‘Mix’ after a hit with ‘Rota’ a couple of years ago. I’m looking forward to seeing the
new show at The Barbican.

Has anyone else seen the Company?

Donald Hutera enjoys 'Mix', but perhaps not quite as much as 'Rota'. There's also a great picture of the dramatic finale.

I saw it last night and had a fine time.

Clement Crisp goes to see Deborah Colker. Reading between the lines, I don’t think
our Clement enjoyed it much, but I could be wrong of course, ‘The accompaniment to
these unsavoury scenes is loud, percussive, brutish, and - for the scenes of frustrated sexual passion -
comprised of abbreviated tracks from recordings of love-songs, played at an ear-numbing pitch. A
frightful evening. ‘

Joking aside, these dance/gymnast companies just aren't his cup of tea. He hates Pilobolus and Momix as well.

Debra Craine applies critical analysis to Deborah Colker, but succumbs completely to the sensory delights of the grand (very) finale.

'Making the Leap From Everyday to Extraordinary.' Sarah Kaufman reviews for the Washington Post:

quote:
As the saying goes, if only you could lift the roofs off ordinary houses, you'd see stranger sights than you could ever imagine. In "Casa," Brazilian choreographer Deborah Colker has lifted off not only the roof but also most of the walls of the two-story house that dominated the Eisenhower Theater stage last night at the Kennedy Center. And, oh my, what sights we saw.
