Adventures in Motion Pictures bring 'Swan Lake' back to the West End for the last time (we are told). I was lucky enough to see the opening night of the show 5 years ago at the old Sadler's Wells and it really did seem magical from the first. Adam Cooper who was dancing that night is opening the revival. At that time he was still with the Royal Ballet, but getting rather bored with the same roles over and over again. Swan Lake seemed to rejuvenate his interest in dance and the work is now hailed as one of the best dance works to be seen on the UK stage for a long time.

One of the less publicised problems with the work is that it uses so many male dancers that no one else has a chance when it is being performed.

Debra Craine in 'The Times' thought it was wonderful.
