I saw 'Masquerade' a couple of years ago and I have to say that, despite Durante and Kobborg, it all seemed a bit dull.

Judith Mackrell enjoys two out of three in the Royal Ballet New Works programme in the small Linbury Theatre at the ROH. Wayne McGregor's 'Symbiont', goes down very well - it is an extract from the terrific work I saw in the Clore Studio Theatre (with a much larger stage) 3 weeks ago. Matthew Hart's new work does not please, but Ashley Page's 'Sleeping With Audrey' is well received.

Judith Mackrell reviews the second part of the RB New Works programme and finds much to enjoy, as I did. I did enjoy 'Aeon's Run' much more than her and so did most of those I spoke to - maybe a fraction long. Some of the 'tutu only' brigade were grumbling, however. Time permitting, I'll write a review.

John Percival finds the RB New works programme a mix of good and not so good, but feels that I terms of new works the success rate is good.

Debra Craine also gives her views. If you ever needed a reminder of the range of opinions that even professional critics can have, compare Crane's view on 'Aeon's Run' with that of Percival.

Ismene Brown finds much to admire in new ballet works by Mark Baldwin and Christopher Wheeldon from respectively, Images of Dance performed by The London Studio Centre, touring, and New Works performed by the Royal Ballet at the Linbury Studio:

Ismene Brown's review of new works by Baldwin and Wheeldon.
